iPod w/ Full Size Headphones?

1. Does the iPod have enough power to power the Bose AE2 Headphones?

2. What's the maximum allowable headphone impedance can an iPod power without needing an amplifier?

1.) Bose headphones are designed for use with portable players, so yes.

2.) About the highest you can get away with is 80-Ohms.  I just tried using my DT770 Pro-80 with my iPhone umamplified.  I had to put the volume all the way up to 95%, but it was plenty listenable and loud.

However, using impedance isn't always the perfect way to determine if it'll work unamplified.  Other factors such as sensitivity contribute to how loud and well a headphone will play with or without an amplifier.

Example - The Sony XB-1000 has only a 24-Ohm impedance, but with its massive 70mm drivers and other factors it pretty much needs an amplifier, or it's rather quiet.
