So I recently replaced my ASUS Xonar DX with an Essence STX. This is connected to a Little Dot MK III with Tung-Sol 6AK5 tubes which in turn is connected to my Grado SR325is. The improvement in sound quality is very apparent and I am absolutely floored. Music has never sounded more powerful, lively, or clear.
But that's all. Movies and games sound piss-poor as they lack positional audio because I'm connected to the line-out of my Xonar rather than the headphone out. Connecting my Grados directly into the headphone out rectifies this and everything sounds immensely better with the exception of music, which sounds harsher and less clear. Connecting the Little Dot straight into the headphone amp also fixes this but doesn't quite sound right (probably because of the built-in amp messing with my external amp).
So my question is can I somehow output Dolby Headphone and 7.1 Virtual Speakers through the line-out? If I can do this I can get the positional audio my games require whilst retaining use of my Little Dot. If not I'll be forced to use the Xonar alone and probably sell-off my Little Dot
If that's not possible are there some settings that I can use that will allow the headphone amp of the Xonar to work with the Little Dot? Certain gain settings or whatever that I can use? Maybe I'll just tediously switch to the Xonar's headphone out when gaming and the Little Dot for music...
