Wanted: Portable Media Player for Life

The one who checks most of the boxes wins:

(Sorted by importance)

Lossless/FLAC compatability

LARGE Storage, lowest 32GB

HD TV Out (go to friends, plug in the TV, watch American Psycho in 1080p BluRay format)

I'm thinking Zune, but I've heard it's discontinued.

I'm thinking iPod classic 160GB (one HUNDRED and SIXTY gigabytes, that's just..cool), +iPod reminds me of the Beats by Dre scam --too commercial there have to be better solutions than the Apple brand.

Ideas?

Cowon x7

Only one gripe, it'll be component tv out, but i wouldn't be surprised if there's a component-hdmi adaptor.

But it covers everything else, and starts at a whopping 120gb all the way to 160gb.

I got my iPod Classic 80gb and im a happy camper.

If you really mean "For life" as in "I want this to last forever" don't get anything with a Hard Drive.

Cowon J3 has all those things except HD Out. I think it just uses analog RCA for video output.

I went through every Cowon product. First conlusion: I'm buying from them.

But I'm split in 3 pieces:

X7 - 160GB,4.3"LCD,103hrs playback

S9-32GB, sounds like it has the best display+Dual Core processor

D3-32GB, 3.7" AMOLED, Android, HDMI Out+Wireless Lan. + It's an internet phone.

Does internet phone mean that I can use it as a regular cell, or do others have to own internet phones too? Because I'm in Cyprus and have an MTN connection.

Means you can use the likes if skype etc though wifi.

I wouldn't buy the D3, it doesn't have a very good rep.

The J3/S9 are virtually the same, only with the J3 you get micro sd support and an external speaker, everywhere else they're the same.

Wait 2 to 3 months and get the next ipad3.  By then, hopefully memory will go up from 64g 128g.  Super high resolution on screen and HD output to tv.  I believe you can get high res music also.

Too huge. I think I'm going for the Kowon X7.. What's its rep?

The S9 does NOT have a dual core processor - no Cowon does. Get the X7,...

I've been looking at getting an X7 for a while now, anyone know if it does last.fm scrobbling?  Obviously not while playing, no wifi, but like how you can scrobble past plays off an ipod.

I really wish they would add wifi and android, I'd own one months ago.
