Best way to upgrade thinkpad sound quality for v-moda v-80s for < $100

Thread Starter

Plugging my V-80s into the headphone jack on my laptop sounds worse than my ipod. looking for a relatively inexpensive way to upgrade the sound. I've seen USB soundcards and the PCMCIA ones. I wouldn't mind also upgrading the ipod sound quality with a DAC or amp or whatever but i'm new to these things. My main concern is the laptop but if there is something that I could also hook up to the ipod it would be a bonus. Looking to spend less than $100.

Thanks

Hmm under $100 for a lappie you'd be looking at Fiio E10 possibly?

What kind of laptop/soundcard is it?

The Fiio E10 will fit into your budget and sounds decent for the price.  I didn't notice a HUGE difference but there were some noticeable changes in using the headphone out on my laptop. I'm thinking that the soundcard in my laptop isn't as bad as I thought it would be though.
