Headphones under $200

Hi, this is my first post here, but I'm looking for some advice.

I'm going to be a college student next year, living on-campus. I need a pair of closed cans that won't disturb others around me since I'll probably be studying in the library 24/7.

I have a budget of $200 or bust as of now, and they don't have to be portable since my backpack is pretty large. I also only listen to my music through my ipod and computer without an amp. My soundcard is pretty standard too, nothing great.

The genres of music I listen to are mostly japanese rock/pop and a bit of dubstep/electronica.

Some examples:

I also realize that youtube links don't do the songs great justice, but most of my songs are 320kbps and FLACs.

Now I know I might be asking too much, but I'd like a pair of cans that lean more towards the jpop/rock since that's what I mostly listen to.

Some cans I were considering were the Sony MDR-V6's, Sennheiser HD 280's, Shure SHR440's, ATH M50's, and possibly the Beyerdynamic DT 770's

I heard Ultrasone was pretty good too, but I have no idea.

Thanks in advance.

Do you want the sound signature to be more on the bassy side, would you like mids to come out more, or would you like it to be a neutral (no range emphasized more than another) sound?

I don't want a booming bass over everything, so I guess either neutral or brighter mids would be nice.

I'd go for the Fischer Audio FA-003 or Shure SRH840. The FA-003 has silky mids and is very neutral overall, but may not be well-suited to your genres. The SRH840 is more calculating and I think may be suited better to pop and rock, but they're not as neutral.

Just my two cents.

KRK KNS 8400. If you go to a Guitar Center, there's a good chance you'll be able to compare the M50s, 8400s, and 770s (I was able to).

Might want to look into the KRK KNS 8400, Brainwavz HM5, FA-003, and Shure SRH940.

HFI 780's thye have the bassiness of the HFI 580 but a little less with a tendancy towards mids and highs(even though the 580's already have really nice mids and highs) anime OST's already sound extremely ncie on the 580's, the 780's will be even better.

HFI 780-$150

FiiO E6 Amp-$25

Thanks for the responses, sorry I'm a bit late to responding.

I'm going to go to Guitar Center and try out some of these suggestions (mainly the SRH 840, M50, and 780s, maybe the MDR-V6s while I'm at it.)

I'd be grateful if you guys would post more suggestions.

Also, any amp suggestions for under $50? I guess the fiio line is probably my best bet?

yes it is. the only amp they have under $50 is the E6 though. it is enough to drive all of those headphones.many buy the E11($65) but it is unnececssary/

the E6 with an L9 LOD would be the best choice for under $50
