Are There Major Sonic Differences Between A 2007-ish Clip and a New Clip+?

I've been using my two clips that I bought four or five years ago as my portable source for a long time, and I know the Clip+ is a popular budget source sound-wise. Is there any major difference between the two that would make an upgrade worth it?

 

Neither of my current Clips have been Rockboxed or anything.

No. Í bought the first clip+ when shops were shifting the remain clip stocks at a nice discount. Sound quality, I couldn't tell a difference. I went for the Clip+ because of the slightly less clumsy user interface but mostly because of the memory card slot.

Yeah, I really like the looks of the microSD slot, so I may end up with one anyways at some point.

Can't comment on the Clip, but but I found my Sansa Fuze to sound slightly warmer than the Clip+
