Grado Ear Pad Mods

Thread Starter

Does anyone know of any good ways to mod sr80i ear pads? I've seen people wrap tape around them, but I don't think that'd do anything for comfort.

Or would it be a better idea just to buy replacement pads?

I just want them to be a little more comfortable, while not looking ridiculous.

Thanks!

The best mod I found for the Grados is to buy different headphones.

The Senn HD414 pads fit. You can cut holes in the centre of the foam if you feel the need.

Do a search on eBay for "Sennheiser Grado ear pads" and they'll come up. (note the space between ear and pads)

They're much more comfortable and don't keep falling off.

How do I vote your comment with a thumbs down?

Why would you do that? There is no mod to make them comfortable, without changing the sound a lot. So either live with the pain or buy headphones that have a better design for actually wearing.

I use the sock method.

I think I'll give the sock method a try my with sr80i's, and when I get a pair of MS-2i's, I might give the Radio Shack mod a try, just for kicks.

This is, of course, your opinion, and not absolute fact.  Mine are very comfortable.
