hey guys. I've been rigorously researching my options as far as a desktop dac goes. Many seem to recommend the bifrost and it seems like a wonderful deal to me, especially since I'd be using optical in from my creative x fi. correct me please if there is a problem with optical from a card like this.
At the moment I am using an he-500 with an Asgard as well as sr80i for my laptop / portable rig with a hm101 as a placeholder. I have read some saying just to save for a $1k dac, which I could do. I was planning on saving for the new hifiman amp that was just announced, So I'm sure a nicer dac would compliment that anyway.
