Hey everyone,
I'm just starting to get into headphones. I got a pair of HD558's for Vhristmas and I love them. I had also previously built a CMoy (with no fancy parts) and I was surprised at the immediate difference in audio quality it made for me.
I'd like to upgrade to a desktop amp, but I'm somewhat skeptical of the difference it will make. After all, these headphones are on the cheaper end of the spectrum! Before investing $200 into something like the M^3 I'd like to try my headphones on one first.
Is there anyone within 30-40 minutes drive of the Sacramento, CA area that would be willing to let me try their DIY amp? I'm looking to audition something like an M^3, CKKIII, or PPA.
I'm also willing to accept any unsolicited advice about choosing amps :P
