Amp/DAC with q701 (Calyx Coffee?)

Thread Starter

I just got the q701 (hasn't arrived yet) and have read it should be paired with a good amp.  My primary listening source is a laptop.  Primary genre is classic rock.  I know next to nothing about amps/DACs, and I want to spend $200 or less, so I was thinking I would play it safe and get the e7/e9 combo.  I also use an iPod frequently, so the portability of the e7 would be a plus.  However I recently found the Calyx Coffee amp/DAC and it looks really cool and is also small.  I've read some good reviews, and it seems like a decent buy at $200, but I'm wondering if it is powerful enough to drive the q701s.  I'm having trouble finding any information/comparisons for the Coffee as it seems rather new.  Thanks for any feedback.

That Calyx runs on USB power, so not portable....

The FiiO E17 is another option.  It would have a better sounding amp and DAC then the E7.
