I use a rear headphone jack on the asus xonar essence stx set at 2 channels, 24bit, 48hz, hifi mode, all dsps off, windows sounds disabled.
Currently I use:
AHD2000 67-0 OHMs
AKG Q701 300-67 OHMs
HD600 300-67 OHMs
This seems to give me the clearest outputs...
Exactly how does one use the onboard headphone amplifier on this sound card? You can only pick 3 ranges, how do you pick the ohm value WITHIN that range?
The AHD2000 denon seems to have too much Bass and not enough mids, and it becomes very uncomfortable to listen to because the bass keeps pounding on my head. The volume i set is just high enough to hear the mids and highs clearly...how do I correct this?

The hd600 seems just right at that setting.
The Xonar Essence STX is using the latest drivers from asus website. I tried the unified beta, but now continue to use the latest ones from the asus website.
ASIO 64bit output on Foobar2k, with crossfeed plugin, nothing else.
If needed, what is the best amplifier to pair WITH the sound card and my current headphones for the best possible synergy?
