Sound of Klipsch Mode M40 Headphones?

Has anyone tried these out or purchased these?

I need a new pair of noise canceling headphones for work related traveling and am thinking of splurging on these. They are only a little more expensive then my current Bose Quiet Comforts, but look a lot better and theoretically should sound better since they are made by a better speaker company. I know Brookstone sells them however the Brookstone near me is currently under construction so I am not able to actually test them out.

Just trying to get peoples thoughts before I purchase these, from my limited internet searches it seems these things are extremely durable and overbuilt. However, I found little discussing the sound.

Thoughts? Anyone have a pair of these that could test the frequency  spectrum response?

Have you looked at the reviews? They seem to be good.

Where have you found reviews? I have seen one review on a Klipsch blog of a guy claiming to be a audiophile.

I tried one in a store, with my own equipment (Sansa Clip Zip and FLAC lossless) and it sounded pretty bad for 350$ The noise cancelling was decent, but the sound certainly wasn't up to par. I also tried the Skullcandy Aviator, Beats Studio, Solo, and Soul SL150. I also had my V-moda M-80 on me. I wold rank them, M-80, Aviator, Studio, Mode M-40, SL150, and the Solo.

Just my opinion, of course. I'm now thinking that the whole dual-driver thing is just marketing.

Hmm, maybe the M40's I listened to were damaged somehow, as my impressions are quite different.

I personally would look elsewhere. Any well build around the ear headphone will make a big sound reduction and playing music you wont hear anything. IEM's will make even a bigger difference, and noise cancelling headphones you'll hear the buzz of this technology.

I dislike IEM's I purchased customs thinking they would solve the comfort in my ear canal issue, however they still did not resolve it. Sound isolation is kind of important these will be used in my office at work, in the library, and on a train/plane. Any suggestions on another closed headphone with nice aesthetics and well balanced sound. My price range is around $300-$350.

Denon AH-5000's? What dou think? You can get some J$ Pads (leather pads) they make even a more significant sound reduction.

How are those in the 300 to 350 price range? Aren't the 5000s about 600 dollars? Are you talking about the 2000s?

I got my AH-5000's on Head-Fi for $325 i think it was, it was about a year ago now, but i wouldn't buy them new unless you can get them in the $350 range.

I found a pair of the Klipsch Mode M40, I can say the build quality is fantastic on the headphones. They look almost indestructible but were extremely heavy, this could be due to the dual driver system and the fact it was over engineered.  Unfortunately, they were not plugged in so I was unable to listen to them which is the most important feature. Based off the clamping pressure and over the ear pads alone, the noise isolation seems to be very good. Although heavy, the padding on the cups and the head strap were sufficient to allow consistent comfort. If the sound is as good as the build quality and comfort of these phones these headphones may be excellent.

I own a pair of these, and I think they are decent. Are there better headphones out there for the price? Probably. Are they poor headphones for their price, absolutely not! I enjoy them since they are very natural, but they seem a little recessed and I agree that the I was a little dismayed by the noise canceling not meeting my expectations.
