Nooby Portable Audio Setup

Hello Everyone!

This is my first post on Head-fi, but I have been reading threads for a couple months now. From all the reviews I have heard, I thought that the Sennheiser HD 25-1 ii would be a good introductory headphone to get into hifi audio. I now have those and I am thinking of a possible portable setup to go with them.

The iMod by Red Wine Audio plus the new Digizoid ZO2 would be the setup. I don't know a ton about either of them, any advice on if this would be a good portable audio setup that I could use with headphones beyond the HD 25's.

Thanks,

Ode

What are you running the HD-25's with? Maybe some a thin and small headphone amp.

Right now I just run my HD 25's with my Iphone 3G or my Sony Laptop. Nothing fancy. I was thinking the ZO2 was a thin and small headphone amp, if it's not please correct me. Also what would be a good small battery powered headphone amp?

Also I'm now considering a Cowon J3 over the Red Wine Audio iMod because of price and good reviews of the Cowon. Wondering what kind of portable amp a Cowon J3 would need if any to power HD 25's well.

I think the Headstage Arrow or Pico Slim would be fine with your 3G. Also the Arrow has an upgradable DAC so you can use it out of your laptop for better sound. Here are the reviews.

Thanks Cifani, the Pico is a bit out of my price range at 400, but the arrowhead might be possible. Does anyone have experience with

both the Red Wine Audio iMod and the Cowon J3 to compare them as the DAP for this setup?
