I was messing around with my Xonar DG settings and I bumped it up to Exciter mode(64+ ohms) on my ATH-M50's.. when I had it set to 32-64ohms I was getting mids and highs dropping off while bass hit hard, now the problem is eliminated and there is no problems even when its turned up high(which is too loud to be tolerable, was just a test)
It sounds sooo much better with the amp set on a higher impedance at any volume from highest to lowest.
Will I damage my headphones running at a higher impedance, even if I don't put the volume higher than it would be under 32ohms? Right now it is fine, but will it cut down the lifespan of the drivers? I'm thinking the drivers are under-rated and can handle more power, or the amp is over-rated.. because they sound like a new pair of cans with these settings.
