Help picking out the right headphones

Thread Starter

I was originally thinking about getting the hd 558, 598, or the 595, but they are open ear and aren't very portable.

I'm looking for: folding, around ear, closed, 200$ or less, and preferably decent bass.

That might be a lot of specifics but I need help finding the right headphones.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Dylan

HD598 is very good, but if you want closed and decent bass...

Portable, closed with good bass, i think HFi780.

I have to suggest the prototypical portable headphone, the Sennheiser HD25-1 II. It's designed for portability, built like a tank, has solid punchy bass, and is a time tested standard.

+1   Given your criteria, at the $200 or less price point this would be my choice.

Thank you for the suggestions. I also came across the Audio Techinca m50. Any thoughts on these?

CALs (Creative Aurvana Live) closed, does not fold, but not big headphones.

Price is really low at Amazon and Creative Labs.

Do these headphones go completely over the ear? I would prefer that.

The sennheisers go on your ear. If comfort is important then you can get the velour pads.

Lots of people like the ATH-M50s, I think there more music headphone, then gaming headphone?

There a great buy when their $120, but lately they have been going for $160.

The Denon AH-D1100 is selling for $107 at Electronics Expo, need to use coupon code "BOUNTII"

They are closed, non-folding, bassy headphones that usually sell for $150.

I did forget to mention I will be using them mainly for music.
I'll check out the Denons. So if the price of the M50 came down, would that be a good buy based on what I want?

I've never used the ATH-M50s, but for $120 or less, I would say go for it.

Amazon has used ones starting at $118.

There are also used ones on eBay, do not buy from Hong Kong or China, there are fakes or beat up old ones sold as new.

On eBay do not buy from someone with low feedback.
