Never happy with my headphones. Need preferences, i am unique.(Beginner sound guy)

Hey guys, I am relatively new to good sound. My first good sounding headphones were the koss portapros. I love them, but imo they are ugly and uncomfortable on the head, and they leak sound like no other. Today i got Bose AE2 from my mom, i think i may return them though because they sound super low on bass. I love bass, I had the v moda bass freqs and loved the bass, but i want good sound also if i can, like im at a concert. I would like closed cans and very comfortable. I love the confort of the AE2s and the look, but want something with better bass as i feel ae2s are almost non existent. I dont want something too too uch on bass that i cant hear anything else, but i would like something that i can feel, you know what i mean? A few days ago i bought fake knockoff beats solo 65 dollars becuae i was thinking i want something comforgable and super stylish, but i dont want the solo knockoffs that are supposed to be identical to the real one in all ways because the solos are supposed to sound bad i guess, i just love the look and portablility of them. I know its impossible to ask for all these things but iim looking for closed headphones that look cool, sound great with a lot of bass, headphones that can block out a lot of sound, comfortable, if possible not to big , but that isnt that big of a deal to me. Also, i would like if possible to be under 150 dollars . I am kinda interested in the xd-700s but i think they are so ugly. Also, i was kinda interested in the sony MDR-NC200D because of the noise cancelling. Someone please help me find a great set of cans, thanks and merry christmas!

Check out the Ultrasone HFI 580s and HFI 780s. Great for bass, closed, look good (imo), in your price range. The only downsides are that they are a little big, I've read that they aren't too comfortable, and they don't have the best sound isolation. Of course one person finds a headphone comfortable that others say isn't, so I'd recommend trying to get hands on experience.

Also, the Sony MDR-XB500 is also pretty popular for a bass oriented phone. I don't know about the Sony you listed but I generally don't like noise cancelling (I've read the sound quality is diminished) since closed circumaurals already isolate pretty well.

Denon AH-D1100 are at a really low price at Electronics Expo, need to use the coupon code "BOUNTII".

The comfort level of ultrasones can vary if you don't get one of their pro-series can's. The HFI-580 is a very comfortable headphone though I can only wear it for a few hours before my skull hurts from the weight of the headphone sitting on it. The pad that's supposed to provide cushion between your head and the headband isn't the softest thing in the world.

Great sound isolation as well so I have no idea what you're talking about. haha

guys what about the m50, does that have a lot of bass too?

The HFI-450 has ~11dBr of isolation, the HFI-780 has ~10dBr of isolation. Isolates as well as a typical closed headphone, maybe a bit below average in that regard. I have no raw data for the HFI-580, bu I would assume it is very similar.

I didn't say "bad" sound isolation, I said "not the best". I agree with another comment that they're probably a little below average in terms of sound isolation. If one of the OP's priorities is "block out a lot of sound" I think it's worthwhile to tell him that they aren't the best at sound isolation.

are the m80s the same as crossfades?

the m80 are supposed to be a lot better than the crossfades, smaller too.

i heard the crossfades a while ago and hated them. very dark and colored. lacking details and having weird bass.

Crossfade LP2 ? m50 has bass, but it depends on how much of a bass do you want? if you are a heavy bassheads the m50 wont be suffice.. other opts would be audio technica ath-Pro700mkII, Ultrasone HFI580..

cheers,
