DEDICATED headphone amps powerful enough for the Hifiman HE-6?

Thread Starter

There is another thread going on about powering the notoriously hard-to-drive HE-6 - but that thread seems to focus mainly on driving it from speaker amps.

Lets use this thread to see your experience with what few dedicated headphone amps are not fazed by the HE-6...

So far I've heard of;

Apex Audio Peak/Volcano

Audio-Gd Master 6

Grace Design m902

Grace Design m903

Head Direct EF-6

Little Dot MKVI+

Ray Samuels Audio Darkstar

Ray Samuels Audio SR71b (only just)

Schiit Lyr
Violectric HPA V200

Feel free to add to this list and put down your experience with how easily the amp in question dealt with the HE-6 - and, obviously, what the sound was like.

Cheapest option I've heard of is using Virtue Audio One.2($300-350) and Two.2($450). These are Tripath based Class D speaker amps that several people have had great success with the HE-6 and several other headphones, either rewired or using an adapter, hooked up to the speaker posts.

For some reason every time I go to their website they are always sold out of the One.2 and Two.2, not sure why.

Thanks!!

This thread doesn't include speaker amps, though.
