Hello guys, I'm pretty new to this scene. But what are the recommended programs used for extracting music from a CD?

I'm interested into the lossless format everyone is talking about as it seem to be of higher quality than mp3.

Pardon my noobyness :D

use EAC (Exact Audio Copy). Its pretty much the most widely used to extract your files from CD in FLAC (lossless) format. You can actually do a search for the program and download everything needed in one download to make setting up the program easier. I torrented the program which had the other required programs all in one download and with directions on how to get everything working properly. Good luck.

Hmm, I've installed and setup-ed EAC, but for some reason all my CDs are slowing as Unknown Album/Artist etc in the EAC. My iTunes and WMP reads it just fine.

You have to use the find album info function and it will find it for you then.

I use EAC with AutoFLAC to rip music from my CD's.  Then if I need to break it down into lower bit rate, I use winLAME. winLAME is a program that allows you to convert FLAC files into lossy formats (LAME mp3; Ogg Vorbis; or Windows Media Audio.)

I personally like using winamp to rip my cds into flac then play them using foobar. Main feature i like in winamp is the auto eject function to let me know its done. If theres another program of better quality that has this feature i would be interested in trying it out,

Exact Audio Copy may have that feature. Not so sure though I'd have to check. Feeling to lazy to load windows XP though ;)
