Upgrade from dt 770 pro 80 ohm?

I currently have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 pro 80ohm. I am looking for an upgrade with better highs/mids and more importantly bass, if I need to buy an amp I will, prefer the headphones to be in the $150-$200 range. I've been looking around mostly this site and can't decide. Maybe the DT990? Any recommendations?

Do you prefer open or closed headphones?

dt 990 pros offer a similar sound to the dt 770 pro. there is less bass, but it is cleaner and of higher quality, the highs aren't are harsh and the mids are less recessed, especially on the 600 ohm version.

so should I just look into getting an amp for my dt770/80?
