Anyways. So how are you enjoying your Heir 8A's Kunlun? I was planning on getting those soon. I'm torn though between these or the SE 5 Way series. Especially if I'll get stuck paying customs fees on the Heirs it puts me in the SE 5 Series price bracket....

I'm enjoying the 8.A very much, it just gets more and more enjoyable. And you'll never have a problem with its treble. The SE5 is like the ES5, plus a bit more detail, according to non-hyped sources I've pm'd. A top-tier custom, but like other top-tiers. So, there's a disparity between the one guy hyping and a balanced review for the SE5, whereas with the 8.A, you have a few reviews out so far (me, Project86, kckc) who pretty much all hear the same thing--it's a pretty good thing, too.

You can always do the thing where the customs are listed as samples with no value. Just do what I did and go with FedEx for the return, you'll pay a little more for the trip home, but they are door-to-door and you'll have no worries. Actually, might be worth it, however you declare them.

Sounds good but I've heard that generally you are more likely to get his using Fedex? Strange :P

Get his? Get this?

People have used different companies to ship to/from China. I was very happy with FedEx, they saved my bacon when I had a Chinese customs issue shipping into China. Others did well with UPS. John declared my 8.a as a no-value review sample and it sailed through like a charm.

Oh, you're in Hawaii? No SE-5 for you, anyway. There's a weird 3+month wait on them and they don't sell to no Americanos. The 8.A is quite nice, you'll like it.

Kunlun, my real concern --in fact, my only concern-- these days is that nobody takes me seriously (sadly even someone who thought I was referring to them when I wasn't), but I'm now very relieved to find out no-one takes you seriously, either.

Yes, long live hype, exaggeration, fanboyism, misinformation, misinterpretation, deceit & dishonesty!

Honestly I am NOT impressed with the show you put up here . I enjoy my music with the toys I bought (not with your money tho) and you have a problem with that? You seem to be a psycho if I used the right word.

P.S. I do enjoy your show at the EPH100 thread though. Continue the show and don't disappoint us.

To those who post on this thread, I ask you to respect other and other's opinions - NO MATTER if you like him or disagree with him. Show respect. I NEVER have a problem with people expressing opposite opinions or even hype a little bit as you wish. We sometimes enjoy the things so much we may unintentionally hyped.

But show respect to each other.

Huh? I've been hyping the IE80? Jeez, I wouldn't take me seriously either!

I have no idea who Lee was making fun of, but I was making fun of him (in a friendly way, of course, just teasing--and he knows that).

I'm not really sure what's going on now, so feel free to pm me. Are you being attacked? Looking at LostID's response, I think he feels he's the target.

In any case, I'm not really aiming anything serious at anyone, just teasing Lee who got a bit of heat for his insistence that he heard some over-brightness in the Ex1000's treble. I didn't hear that (I loved the EX1000), but I can see how someone would, given the treble response which was also clearly shown in the freq. response charts out there.

Not sure how I ended up in the dishonesty camp either. I kinda like it here (a lie!).

These sort of arguments are almost more fun when I have no idea what is going on.

It's like walking into a food fight.

Why do I have ketchup on my shirt? Oh, I'm throwing a pickle a someone! Oh no, soup everywhere!

Joker may have said the RE272s are bass light, but he's not the only one reporting hearing them that way. I haven't heard the RE272s myself, and you'll have to forgive me for saying this, but when it comes to the RE272s, you somehow remind me of someone who will insist on several threads – though admittedly he posts a lot more than you dothat the IE80s are the best thing since sliced bread.

These kind of comments are unnecessary no matter who you are aiming at. If you don't like the guy or want to disregard his opinions, there is the feature "block member" available.

Do you want to say you are smarter than this guy?

I play lots of basketball at a park with many rough kids. I witnessed ugly fights. But no matter what I respect them as a person, in return these kids all call me uncle and show the respect (even I am suck in my skills).

I find it ironic that you very vehemently ask people to show respect to each other when CLEARLY your two previous posts quoted above (and others on the Yamaha thread, some of which have been removed, BTW) are a testament to the contrary.

You obviously felt I may have been originally referring to you when I was responding to AstralStorm's post -- I was, in fact, referring to lee730 and he clearly saw that. Others (not just Kunlun) have also mentioned lee730's constant EX1000 bashing that's been going on for months, though he's recently been a LOT less harsh after one of my posts recently. Perhaps you should ask yourself why you have reacted the way you have when I wasn't even referring to you.

You joined HF just over 7 weeks ago and very likely haven't read many of lee730's previous posts and his constant bashing/trashing of the EX1000s on every thread under the sun and his constant insistence that the FX700s and, recently, the IE80s are the best things ever. His recent (was it yesterday?) comment on a new DAP he's got, comparing it another very highy-regarded one which he hasn't even heard and stating the former was so MUCH better… Yet, you feel the right to be disrespectful --yes, very disrespectful-- to music_4321 because you don't happen to agree with some of the things he's said, or the manner in which he's said certain things. Yes, sometimes I use sarcasm, but sarcasm does not necessarily have to be offensive.

I've said this before: I don't have a problem with enthusiasm, genuine enthusiasm, that is. Another thing is hype, exaggeration, insistence, misinformation, misleading people, telling half truths, and so on.

My first post on this thread was specifically addressed to you, and specifically taking into account the thread title and your even shorter time spent on HF. I was giving you genuine advice as a newbie, and recommending you should take a look at this very useful post (by one of our mods). You even thanked me for it but very soon afterwards started making disrespectful references to me in several posts without me answering back, until later when once again you had made yet another reference to music_4321.

If you want to spend a lot of money in gear, that's fine, it's your money, after all. If you're so far happy with some of the hype you've come across round this place, that's fine, too. People don't often mind it when someone hypes a product they themselves enjoy (in this case you and lee730 happen to like the IE80 a lot). I don't. The main reason why I stopped posting on the EX1000 thread altogether was precisely that --hype-- even when I loved the EX1000s. The EX1000 was a very fine thread for a few months, but later it was badly spoiled by hype and endless, endless meaningless posts that had absolutely nothing to do with the EX1000s. Appreciation/Discussion/Review threads don't always have to be dead serious and, in fact, a bit of humour here and there is very welcome and even necessary. Unfortunately, most threads of this nature become exceedingly long (look at the JH13, IE8, JH16 threads, to name but a few), often making them almost impossibly difficult to follow/read/research.

You may not have a problem with the money you yourself spend on gear, but there are many people who will find it hard to spend even $50, let alone $100, $300, $500, etc -- this is not only 'poor' students but perhaps many people in developing countries. And then people start reading about expensive customs, aftermarket cables and portable amps.

Yes, I know people should do their homework, ie search AND research, when purchasing gear to try to avoid making serious mistakes. Unfortunately, such research often becomes an impossible task as there are many people with high post counts (so-called Headphoneus Supremus) who often come across as experts, using fancy language and mentioning fancy gear, and often times discussing gear they themselves haven't even heard. New members don't know this. The link above addresses some of these issues. I wonder what prompted that moderator to write such a lengthy piece of advice.

I know that if I was new to HF, I'd have a pretty hard time getting good, proper, honest and unbiased advice -- in fact, many new members have posted saying they've done their research and ended up being more confused even! Yes, people are often very friendly when it comes to recommending gear they particularly enjoy but, sadly, their advice isn't always the best/most appropriate. Also, the reasons why people are often so friendly and very 'helpful' are not so obvious, but I'll leave it at that.
