Sorry guys.. I will announce something here real soon.. Not new for some but it will be new for most that read this thread.

Might have to pull the "GO BUY IT NOW" card. Lol! Yes I pulled that for the MH1C.. These are a substancial upgrade! To say I am a little bit surprised is an understatement... More real soon.

Don't have the carbo basso, have the Tenore, will do head to head later tonight or tomorrow if you'd like (haven't heard the basso's, but the consensus so far on the threads is that the 2 are very similar, with the Basso having, surprise, more bass, but most Tenore owners seem to feel the bass is adequate)

I'd be interested in it.

One side of my jvc fx3x makes no sound. Do you think the mh1c is a better upgrade. im kinda of leaning towards it but unsure of how many bass it offers in comparison to the fx3x. anyone have other suggestions for a better headphone less than 40$ oother than mh1c?

Philips SHE9700 might be a good option... not as bassy but enough for a bass head.

Well your not gonna get an actual upgrade on the FX3X if your a bass fan with the MH1C. They are a better sounding phone but something like the Zero Audio DX210 would be a nice upgrade in sound but also has less bass than the FX3X. IF you want big bass for cheap I suggest the Philips SHE9700 if you can find them. For a real nice bass upgrade your gonna have to save up a bit more and get something like a CKS77X or XB90EX.

How is the she9700 in comparison to the fx3x?

and does the cks77x have any difference with the regular cks77? i found a factoryreject cks77 for 45 on amazon, but not sure if its reliable to buy it

Would be a nice side grade. A bit different but got that bass if that is what your looking for..If you can spend a bit more I just got the CKS77X today and it has big bass and even bigger stage to go with it.. A blast of a phone for around $90ish shipped from Japan.

Speaking of. I am giving them an overnight burn in.. Will post some thoughts about them soon.

But it is the other one that is freaking me out. It simply sounds incredible with everything I own.. More soon.

Ya I own the original CKS77s as well so I will post some thoughts here once I get my CKS77X nice n loose. Like all AT earphones these need a big time burn in before they sound proper.. Keep tabs on the thread.

Those factory rejects are ok but I think your better off saving a bit more for better imo.

im a bit unclear. does the mh1c have better bass than the fx3x?

No in both quantity and quality.. They have bass but not at the same level your used to on the FX3X. The MH1C needs to be amped for them to sound their best.. If you have some portable amps it will sound nice but bass wise it doesn't match the FX3X.

OK, here goes...first, the disclaimers. I don't claim to be golden ears, and I've only had the PFE's for a few days. My initial impressions of the Tenores was that it washed out color somewhat (I was comparing it to Westone 4's, XBA3's and AT iem's, though), which I now don't hear at all. I also tend not to think "A" is great, "B" is crap, tend to think of the different signatures more like different flavors (assuming I'm dealing with good phones to begin with).

Anyway, they are 2 different animals. I listened to some alt rock, singers, jazz, soul, alt country (Aimee Mann, Fountains of Wayne, Jenny Scheinman, Petra Haden, Lou Donalson, Macy Gray, Iris Dement), stuff I was very familiar with. I'll start with the Tenores. They have a great, wide soundstage, nice, round bass, and a good bit of drive on rock and similar stuff. The Audeo has a good, tight bass, but less of it (it has 3 different filters available for it, each of which is supposed to change the sound. I have only listened to the gray ones, which are neutral. The black filters are supposed to bring the bass and treble up (the "V" shaped thing), abd I believe the green bring out the bass. The 132's which I got, come with gray and black, but haven't changed them yet, have only heard the gray). The soundstage is the equal of the Tenore. What they do crazy good is detail-seems you can hear individual strings when a guitar strums a chord, there is lots of air around the instruments, precise imaging, detail, all that stuff audiophiles drool over. I do believe the treble is a bit emphasized as compared to the Tenores. Which I liked depended to some extent on the music (the criticism I've read on them is that they're "analytical", which I can understand, but I like the detail). The strong bass of the Tenores makes them have more bounce, or they are "more fun" as people here describe this sound (detail is still there with the PFE's, but when you want to shake a tail feather, bounce is where it's at). Quiter music, the jazz, vocals, lent themselves to the PFE's, pianos sound like they're in the room with you, everything has a clarity to a greater extent than the Tenores. The Tenores isolate much better (haven't done extensive tip rolling on the PFE's, but the large stock tips don't seal the outside world nearly as well so far). Comfort, though, goes to the PFE's. These things go in your ear, are incredible light (the light plastic does feel more flimsy than the Tenores solid aluminum body), and in a very short while, you don't feel them. I like to fall asleep with iem's in...the PFE's are the best I have for this, while the Tenores would be the one I'd pick up when I mow the lawn. Like 'em both, for less than $100 the PFE's are a steal IMO. Again, they are going out of production, but the company makes hearing aids-may be why they fit so well-so I'd guess they'll still be around if there are warantee issues.

Again, YMMV, if one can swing it, they're both great in different ways. The above should give some ideas, depending on your preferences/taste.

One last question about the mh1c, i know it doesnt have much bass as the fx3x... but is it alot less or just slightly less. i am veering from massive bass and more of evident punchy bass but not crazy, with very good o/a sound quality. the cks77 and xb90ex maaybe next time smily_headphones1.gif

Try out the MH1C they sound very nice for the price. You'll dig em the bass is satisfactory..They don't lack in the bass..but like mentioned before they sound much better with a small amp.
