How do you tell if you have a rev 3 or rev 2

They didn't say anything about the reimbursement, but I'll do that. Thanks.

Read back a page or two.

Oh, and if someone decides to order a Beyer headband cover and mod their HE400, I'd love to see the results. Depending on how expensive one is, I might buy one myself and try it out.

i shipped mine back without the accessories, as they requested. I held back the ear pads, the cable and the velour bag. The replacement pair had new pads, another cable and a velour sack in the box. it appears that the overseas shipping department just pulls another HE-400 off the shelves, or the assembly line, then puts it in the shipping box and gets it back to you.

Best of luck.

Really? My replacements have always been naked except with earpads on. No additional cable or pouch.

If I ordered my HE-400s from HeadRoom, the warranty is still by Head-Direct, right? If so, do you think they would be able to fix my right driver issue AND update it to the latest driver (3.5)?

The warranty is through head direct. Usually that's how warranty goes. You have to go through the manufacturer and not the dealer.

I guess I won't be getting the HE-400 anytime soon. I picked up the HE-6 instead of the HE-400 so unless I sell my AD2k I can't really justify any more headphones.

Is there any physical or cosmetic part that can distinguish the rev 2 and rev 3 drivers?

Yes.

Rev2 = clear translucent greyish-white plastic drivers

Rev3 = opaque sandy "bone" yellowish-white plastic drivers.

They are very very distinct, there should be no confusion at all.

All rev 3 units are being recalled right now so, yellow driver versions will become a thing of the past.

Great pics Jerg. Very helpful to HE-400 owners.

Could you edit this into your HE400 recall announcement thread original post, or the FAQ post at least? This way people can just link to that when the question is raised.

Didn't think I'd say this, but I kinda miss my HE400s. They just really improved after I bent the headband and got my Lyr. My HD600s aren't bad at all, but after hearing the epic bass response and clarity of the HE400s, I actually do kinda miss them! I will be rather excited for the new pair. I hope they get them out quickly.

Jerg:   I know it is off topic, but what kind of cans do you have in the background?  They look like audio technicas.
