I saw one used on the forums here a few days ago for a good price. You might check that first. You can order from Amazon or Micca Store, which will be the same as Micca is who Amazon uses.

So uh, I bought my HE-400's about 3-4 weeks ago. So it falls under the 30 days. Yet, my HE-400's definitely aren't R3.

 

Should I send them back anyways? Just to be safe? Fang did say if you bought within the  last 30 days. Just wasn't sure if I got the last of the old batch that wasn't effected.

Even if they cover shipping both ways is it really worth the hassle? How long is turnaround? I wasn't planning to return them (maybe my ears not golden enough to be disturbed by allegedly harsh highs) but if  v3.5 is magically better then...

If you have r2 I'd hang on to them. You know exactly what you're getting.

Doesn't matter if you aren't bothered by the treble of rev3 drivers, the "fixed" treble will be a very significant improvement, it'll be smoother, without the ringing in the 12kHz, especially for vocal music. You don't have to be disturbed by an issue to be able to realize an improvement.

 

Turnaround is usually (time it takes for your current unit to ship to them)+(new unit shipped back to you), so about 1+1 = 2 weeks.

IMO all these v3 issues are HifiMan business gimmick, they make threads go on rampage and destroy used v2 sales.

I have an idea, why doesn't HiFiMAN create an accessory ear pad set (perhaps name it: HiBASS?) that is thicker than the stock pads in order to space the driver a little bit more from my ear so I can enjoy the extra amount of bass that I hear when I pull the cans out from my head slightly.

What's the stock cable for the HE-400 like? Can't seem to find much info on it. Does it come with a quarter or 8 inch jack connector? (Wanting to use it with E17)

It comes with a 1/8 and an adapter. Good cable really. Not bad at all.
