Just wanted to say that I've enjoyed being active on this thread and hanging out with "the boys." Very nice group here. Carry on gentlemen...triportsad.gif

Haha just kidding, enjoy your new life as an HD650 fan.

Not much more past 8 or 9. Tossing a preamp allowed a lot more freedom though.  This is also quite a powerful speaker amp. I'm sure a lower power one would give a lot more play.

9 o'clock isn't bad at all.   That's about what I get using the AD700 with the O2, and there's plenty of room to be had there.

Head-Direct didn't even ship my HE-400s today. They had since Saturday to process the purchase. How long does it take to grab some headphones off a warehouse shelf, throw 'em in a box with my name and address on it, and give it to USPS? I'll be lucky to have them by Friday...

Head-Direct is kind of slow.

I ordered mine on a Friday, and they never sent me an email until Wed. I also ordered over night, and because of my location got their shipping facility in the US. So even though they shipped it on Wednesday I got it on Thursday. But again, I chose the most expensive shipping.

Which is a HUGE pain. I wish I had a splitter or something to do this with, takes too long to unplug/replug change essence panel settings adjust volume etc. Not sure I remember that big of a difference except the asgard is a bit warmer and seems to have better control of the low end.

I would be on the phone with them immediately for a refund. I'm glad I didn't fork over an extra 20 bucks for the "Express" shipping. USPS itself is fast, but Head-Direct is clearly slow as hell. Not impressed.

You should have purchased them from HeadRoom. http://www.headphone.com - they are located in Montana and you would have had them pronto!

Didn't know that, but they don't have the velour earpads. Whatever. I need to learn to be patient. If I don't have them by Friday though, hell is going to be raised.

Kind of a coincidence that the Asgard sounds a bit warmer and also runs warm to the touch, yes? wink.gif

I had an Asgard for a couple of weeks, and when faced with a blind test, I wasn't able to pick it out from my stereo receiver, my O2, my Peachtree Nova, or my Violectric V90.

I still have the receiver, but all those other amps are now being enjoyed by other people...

My HE-400's arrive tomorrow. I plan on listening to them first before peeking at the drivers to see what Beta-test stage they are.

BTW, I ordered my headphones from Crutchfield, but ordered velour pads from Head-Direct. Orders placed within 10 minutes of each other, and I got the velours 3 days ago - with the regular cheap default shipping.

It seems my right driver keeps turning off/on... right now it's not working at all...should I send it back? I ordered mine from headroom on 9/15

Well, YA. Unless you know how to fix it.

Just warm? I'm already working on a iron griddle plate for it, now THAT'S efficiency. One word: Bacon.

Have you tried comparing between the two with HE-400 though since you got it?

I swear it's like this thing has removed the fatigue completely for me, it's weird. Much more open sound to it too.

If it's a placebo like Palmfish seems to be suggesting, it's a pretty damn good placebo. I believe I could definitely pass a blind test between it and the STX but I know that doesn't really hold any validity. I'm a bit of a skeptic when it comes to this sort of thing so I wasn't really expecting much but I'm loving it.
