Im looking for open headphones, and i listen to a wide variety of music genres (R&B, Rock, House, Metal, Pop).

Any suggestions greatly appreciated :D but please be within the range of $150-$200.

Thanks in advance :)

Have you heard Grado's??? If you have a HiFi store or friend maybe that has a pair you could check them out before you buy. I was amazed at how nice and open they were and still are.

Audio Technica- ATH-M50's are always mentioned in a positive light so there is a whole new group to check out.

I just recently checked out some sub $20 headphones from Sennheiser and JVC and was pleasantly surprised, more like amazed that so little coin could get something this good!!!

Sennheiser HD-558s

Go to Electronics Expo, put the HD-558s into the shopping cart, use the coupon code "BOUNTII".

They are under your budget.

This is probably the best current deal out there right now, bang for your buck.

You did say you want open headphones? The ATH-M50 is closed. The ATH-AD700 is open, and looks very interesting. It is only around $107 in the US, but may be $150+ in Australia. The Sennheiser HD598 looks like a very interesting open headphone. It is around $173 on Amazon. I don't know about Australian pricing.

Beyerdynamic DT440.  Sounds better than the MS-1 (soundstage), AD700 (bass extension/impact/midrange), and HD555 (treble).

Just recently heard the DT440 ~ cracking headphone that rarely gets any love, it will need a portable amp though. It pushed

the iPod Nano I was using to the limit.

I haven't had any problems with it with my Sansa clip+ or PCDP.  Maybe Im just not listening very loud.

Sansa clip is little bit more powerful than your average Apple iShuffle or Nano though smile.gif
