Head-Fi should divide headphones section to high end and low end

Just like Gearslutz forum has a high end and low end section for gear, Head-Fi should do the same here for full size headphones

The full size headphones is way too convoluted with all different headphone topics. The topics go to the next page so fast, ´cause there´s so many people posting, it´s hard to keep up and follow any topic.

I´d like to read more about the flagship products, but it´s hard to find anything in this mess.

Who agrees?

Yes, but I think that´s for all gear, not just high end headphones.

And also a section for JUST low end headphones is needed.

Why? There is a high-end section. Frankly, the DAC/AMP is part of the high end setup and should be talked about with the headphones.

There's way more people interested in the middle tier, if anything.

There's more people here who are interested in high-end than low-end even.

Frankly, most people are not even going to look in a "low end" section. Why even look for something low end on a place like Head-Fi? You know?

Very best,

There's an issue I have with this.

-Most people in this forum only want to spend $150-200 tops on the headphone itself, never mind the amp or source. Maybe $300-350 with an amp, but that's not common.

-Most people in the High-end Audio forum are willing to spend $1,000 minimum on the headphone and amp, often two or three times that. Money is no object there.

I've fallen into a weird sort of middle ground. Because I'm pursuing Stax, this means I often have to spend as much on the amp as the headphones themselves (due to how electrostatics work), but I'm aiming for more affordable Lambda systems that could be anywhere from $250 (but need a speaker amp to drive the included transformer box) to $400 to $600 (which come with direct-drive amps, no additional speaker power amp needed), nothing as ludicrously expensive as the SR-007 or SR-009. As a result, I don't really feel at home in either forum.

Well why then every other topic is about low end headphones and every other about high end headphones?

It´s a mess.

There is no simple line on what is high-end or low-end, £1000 under mid-fi and £1001 high-end? It simply doesn't work that way, if anything it is just going to split the forums apart further adding a low end sub forum nor it will fit Head-Fi.

I like headfi for more experienced members would encourage/advise/recommend other less experienced members, regardless of how much they can afford. Listening should be something to enjoy but not the cash behind it...

Sorry for the rudeness, I know that isn't what you have intended - I read about your middle stax story. Its just that once we divide it, I'm afraid this spirit might loose. I've seen a other audio forums that goes really bad at it, beginners are like asking for help everywhere, and the pros just mingle with themselves... Not a very fun forum for me

Maybe you can post on both sections? I'm pretty sure there are others at the same ground as you :)
