You're probably right about liking the sound signature, they are very neutral.  hd598s are on sale for $173 on Amazon atm, they're really superb for the price and also have great mids.  I prefer to buy from German dealers so I can't comment on the others.  (Yes I know akg is Austrian but same thing (no offense to any Austrians :P)).

The opportunity to get the HD598 cheaper than the others has come up. Is it worth it for acoustic, piano, vox, soft rock?
