So I have been looking to many sites including head-fi for tips on what headphone to buy. My budget is 250$ and I have no way of effectively testing headphones at a local store. As such, I hope the head-fi community can act as my testers. So here it goes.
I am looking for headphones that sound good, are built well and feature:
. Removable or replaceable cable
. Ballanced sound which doesn't sacrifice bass(but doesn't color in more)
. Built to last out of metal or some supe tough plastic
. Comfortable for larger ears
. Not earbuds or iems
So just a background about the environments and uses of the cans. I want to be able to put the headphones in a backpack or school bag and take them around. Either they need a case or be very colapsable. Also they must be able to be shook around and the cable pulled on if someone were to walk into it or if it gets caught up on something. The type of music I listen too uses many different frequencies but mostly has heavy vocal mids, bass (hip hop and dubstep) and some techno. This is the reason why I wanted a balanced sound.
So now that you k ow some background here is what I currently own: ( not much)
. Apple earbuds- LOL who doesn't
. Bose qc2- torn and distorting. Ok for the 7 years I've had them
. Klipsch s2- good portables but broken now
. Klipsch s4i- better portables
. Phiaton ms400- recently bought but I feel they are too colored and fit odd so I will return them.
Overall I haven't got much. I also have a fiio e7 amp so it isn't a problem if an amp is needed. I've looked around and kinda found a few choices but feel free to recomend any more to look at:
. Akg 702- good for the steep price?
. Sony mdr nc200d- how's the power handling? Can I use them amped?
. Grado sr225i- how bad do they leak?
. Ultrasone pro 720- saw mixed reviews of them but ok overall
. Sennheiser hd 25-ii- heard they hurt your ears?
. Sennheiser hd 600- heard they are fragile and all plasticky?
. Bowers and wilkins p5- I found them cheap but I heard cable is bad?
Ive Only noted the bad things but there must be many good about each of these
