So i was able to open up some ancient headphones , and right now i want to take off the microphone piece because i find it kinda useless for my needs. I'm just wondering whether cutting off the white and orange wire will mess up anything in the driver. Also for the midi connector problem , what kind of adaptar would i need, i've been searching but i cant seem to find an appropriate midi to 3.5mm any help is much appreciated !!photo(1).JPG?

The two outside terminals connect to the driver.

The two inside terminals just provide a place to solder

the wires from the microphone to the cable.

As for the DIN connector, you would probably be better off just re-cabling them.

hmm , someone else helped me with issue and suggested taking out the end of DIN connector since it looks removable and using this to replace the end , http://www.ebay.com/itm/Neutrik-Rean-NYS231-3-Pole-Metal-3-5-mm-1-8-Stereo-Plug-w-Crimp-Strain-Relief-/330626213265?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cfadba591

heres the DIN connector that looks removable , although i am hesitant on actually taking it out photo(1).JPG

Those DIN connectors do come apart and go back together easily.

You can certainly just put a new end on it but a new cable costs

only a few dollars and will fit the new connector better.

I have had good experience dealing with this company.

You could always just cut off the connector pull back some insulation and put a new connector on if you are comfortable with wiring, if not we could help and tell you which colors go where.  you are going to need a soldering iron.

Well you will need a 3.5 connector, like this -> to replace the DIM connector.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Neutrik-REAN-NYS202-Stereo-1-4-3-5mm-Male-Jack-Plug-Short-Handle-TRS-02074-/370568319682?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item564797d2c2#ht_3994wt_952

Could you take a picture just like your first but of the other side.  This will help me get a better idea of the wires color scheme.

Does a cable go into both sides or does it go into one side and through the headband into the other?
