Looking for more oomph...AKG in mind.

Hey guys I need some quick recommendations.

 

I'm currently on a pair of Sony MDR-7506 cans and am looking for something with more punch and volume, but not overpowering of the mids or highs in the slightest degree(WITHOUT the need for an amp!)

 

I've heard nothing but good things about AKG and if you guys could throw some quick recommendations out there it would be greatly appreciated...other brand considerations are welcome, and I'm not looking to drop more than $150.

 

I use the sony's for general listening from home devices with HQ encoding, for 90's era/underground Hip Hop AND for production with my MPC(beat machine for those who don't know). This is why it's crucial for me to have accurate mids-highs. If I could I would like to keep the AKG's completely seperate for general listening, not production, but I know it's probably not realistic: I rocked a pair of grado SR-80's before the MDRs and I thought they were the best harmonic device ever made. Needless to say they're now completely obsolete.

More punch and volume, yet you're probably going to move on to something that really should be amplified.
