If you've spent enough time with the Ed10s, they aren't as bad as head-fi puts them out to be. Disregard the price tag of course.
They'll easily outclass an AKG K701 etcetera etcetera.
I've had many run ins with Edition 10, and their sound is only growing on me.
In fact, at one session, there was this 50 year old looking man serious about shelling out for a HD800, but wanted to audition them vs LCD2s and what not. And he thoroughly enjoyed the Edition 10s, you can see by his expression when he listens to them. And when he was describing them, his almost seemed out of breath. He had to go home and rethink things over because even if the Edition 10s were 700 dollars more than what he was prepared to pay for the HD800s, he was clearly bowled over and probably need to consult the wifey for extra pocket money. There was only 2 headphones he had in mind, the HD800s and the Edition 10s.
I think he picked the Edition 10s in the end. It had more.. life to the sound.. harsh as their treble may be. Maybe for his musical tastes they were good.
