Beautiful Cans With Not-So-Beautiful Sound

This thread is perhaps the opposite of the question posed here. What cans would you nominate in a beauty contest but cannot stand to listen to?

I think the most obvious answer is the simply ugly-sounding ED10.

Probably the ESW9A. Hated it's bass, it's mids and everything about it.

Thru these beauties, the music was cold and lifeless... frown.gif

If only these sounded as good as the M-80:

The AKG k550.. I love the looks and feel, but oh so bright and thin..I could not stand the sound of these even if i tried really hard!

Don't really know how they sound. Assuming they sound just like all the other beats, but man do these look great .

If you've spent enough time with the Ed10s, they aren't as bad as head-fi puts them out to be. Disregard the price tag of course.

They'll easily outclass an AKG K701 etcetera etcetera.

I've had many run ins with Edition 10, and their sound is only growing on me.

In fact, at one session, there was this 50 year old looking man serious about shelling out for a HD800, but wanted to audition them vs LCD2s and what not. And he thoroughly enjoyed the Edition 10s, you can see by his expression when he listens to them. And when he was describing them, his almost seemed out of breath. He had to go home and rethink things over because even if the Edition 10s were 700 dollars more than what he was prepared to pay for the HD800s, he was clearly bowled over and probably need to consult the wifey for extra pocket money. There was only 2 headphones he had in mind, the HD800s and the Edition 10s.

I think he picked the Edition 10s in the end. It had more..  life to the sound..  harsh as their  treble may be. Maybe for his musical tastes they were good.

Bling Bling urban cool looks and it sounds like a $30 headphone.

AiAiAi TMA-1 ~ grainy, no mids, separation or anything worth mentioning apart from 'hey look at me, I might be a DJ (or needing

to try other headphones in a big hurry)

Heya,

How about a set of nice looking, but overhyped and definitely not price-matched-sounding-headphones that are way too glorified on ye ole' internet:

A little off topic, but the V-moda headphones has got to be the ugliest headphones alongside Skullcandy and Beats by Dre.
