Here are my current setups:

 

At home:Xonar Essence STX-->ALO RX-->SRH840

Portable:iPod Classic 160gb [slim]-->ALO Bling Bling Dock to Mini-->ALO RX-->UM3X

 

The thing is, I'm too lazy to constantly switching between high and low gains. I want to just leave it at high gain and forget about it, but I'm worried that the sound may be to loud for my UM3X(or my ears).

 

I want to try the high gain on my UM3X, but I don't want to take a risk.

 

Will the ALO RX break my UM3X (or my ears) at high gain settings?

 

OK, I just took a leap of faith and tried it. Luckily, the sound wasn't so loud as I thought it would be. It seems that I don't have to switch between low and high gain anymore.
