[Unofficial] Pokemon Appreciation/Discussion Thread

Couldn't find one on Head-Fi, and this was one of my die hard hobbies growing up as a kid. I still play them quite a bit even though I'm 16. Mainly because it's addicting and the nostalgia is absolutely through the roof! Any other Pokemon fans here?

I'm 21 and I still play Pokemon from time to time. This past spring I bought SoulSilver and have loved every minute of it. It really brings me back. Unfortunately my original Silver Version for Game Boy Color is broken. Also, when I was a teenager I gave away my entire Pokemon card collection, and so two years ago I went through this phase where I was determined to get it all back. I think I wound up spending $200-300 on eBay over the summer, and now I have a giant meticulously organized binder full of cards on my bookshelf. Fwo ho ho!

I absolutely love this franchise. By far my favorite RPG! biggrin.gif

Awesome. You see, my Gameboy broke, and until I find a new one, I'm forced to play the ROM's on my computer. biggrin.gif

No one's childhood is complete without Pokemon.  Such a great game and you can get pretty competitive too.

That stinks. It's just not the same as being able to hold it in your hands.

It's actually not that bad once you get used to the controls. It becomes second nature and I'll be starting at the screen for hours with my jaw wide open and soaring through gyms. Plus, when you don't feel like taking the time to go through the game at normal speed, you can increase the speed to 2X, 3X, and 4X. biggrin.gif

Haha, I can see how that would come in handy.

Yep. I've beaten emerald 6 times, FireRed 4, and Crystal 5. Currently trying to level up my Feebas's beauty to evolve into a Milotic. That's Pokemon talk, bro. cool.gif

I have a document saved somewhere on my computer that had a list of my ultimate Pokemon team with their move sets and held items and everything based on a bunch of research on Bulbapedia and Smogon.

I just started on Generation III stuff through emulation on my phone. Must say, it has a lot more depth than I am used to, coming from Yellow and the original Silver. Oh, and I wish I realized just how fun it was to play as a girl earlier.

What phone do you have? I I'm emulating Emerald right now on my Mac, and I have a DS emulator that's really fast for Generation IV which is fun t play. But Gen. V is such a bad Pokemon game it's not even funny.

Still trying to decide on the best team for Emerald. I've tried like 5 times, and the only good electric Pokemon that's catchable in game is Manectric. Any suggestions?

I have a feeling they're not extremely popular choices, but personally I usually like Electrode or Raichu for an electric team member.

I've tried both Electrode and Raichu but they seem relatively weak from both times that I've used them. I've also used Magneton in the past...may try that.
