For that range it's cmoy, or the current amps you have the Fiio

You'd be surprised at the options that open up if you bumped that up from 25-50 to 80-100.

I guess going from the E5 to the E6 would be an upgrade, but more in terms of functionality than sound quality.  You get two more equalizer settings, and a smaller size I believe.  The headphone jacks also don't hold plugs quite as well as I'd like, the plugs don't slightly click in place like with the typical headphone jack.  Honestly I doubt that getting the E6 is going to do you much good, it's basically a slightly shinier version of what you already have.

I'd recommend you step up your price range to the $85 FiiO E7.  It is a DAC and an amplifier, so you'll be able to use it with a computer via USB, and even charge it at the same time.  It also has a digital screen with a menu, that can set things such as bass boost and a volume limiter.  It is considerably bulkier than your E5, but so much more functional and useful.

Other options exist such as the ZO2 and likewise, but I find the E7 to be very useful for my own audio setup.  It's attached to my cellphone most of the time.

If you just need an amp, the Fiio E11 would be a huge step up from the E5.

Wow, totally forgot about the E11.  Cheaper and less bulky than the E7, and pretty much the same features, except the DAC.  And, if you don't have a noisy headphone jack on your computer, you can just plug it into there if you need to.

+1 for the E11.

And a lot more powerful. The E7 uses the same amp portion as the E7, which suffice to say, isn't much of an amp, more like a volume booster. The E11 is a portable amp in the truest sense of the word. The E7 should only be looked at if you need a DAC AND an amp. Otherwise, the E10 is a better USB DAC, and the E11 is a better amp.

Single tube headphone amplifiers, sell on eBay, prices start at $45, better ones start at $70, ships from China, takes 10 days.

Will also need a digital mutli-meter (DT830), prices start at $7.

Use the meter can make fine adjustment to the voltage for best sound.

Guess I'll get the e11 then.! inf act i was jsut loooking an amazon and saw an e11 and e7, e9 e wathever soi went here to ask

.. too much search one ebay for the right one.

i have xonar dx which 97% of the time use headphone. that means headphone is plugged directly into the front speaker/headphone jack all the time..there's no background noise....my assumption is that card has a dAC on it already so all in nmeed is amp

e11 it is then!!!!!!!!!!

or am mi missing something?

If you don't need a portable amp, the E9 would be better than the E11.

The E9 is a stronger amp. It's Fiio's best amp.

This x2.

Fiio's E9 is a very powerful amp that can drive most power hungry headphones without breaking a sweat.
