Absolutely - the sales people at the front of our shop are adamant that you should never give the customer too many technical details, because 'it only confuses them !'. Their argument is that the people who can read a spec sheet know exactly what they want when they walk in the door - its just a question of finding that model and haggling over price. As long as they dont sell people Acer or Compaq laptops, I keep my mouth shut.

I'm now thinking about just getting the E17 :/ it seems it's the best of both worlds and i needed a DAC also. but since it's $150, how do you guys think it holds up to the desktop MAverick tube magic

Headfonia Mike also has a great portable amp shootout with a bunch of low
budget amps. In fact, I decided for my cMoy after reading that.

I'm not sure if the added 'coloration' by the ZO2 is the way you want to go but at least at first
I would try a 'normal' amp such as the others you mentioned. (My .02 cents)

im more or less set on the E17 though. I also needed a new DAC so this works

Should be a good selection...

 

If you are looking for a cheap alternative, there's the Nuforce Icon Mobile also.

It should be less than $100.

 

(you can get a "demo" black version for $49 from audio advisor... #justsaying ...)

Sound is definitely a bit bright but it does a good job.

Paired with the 440 (which I had)... not sure if it would be great though (seeing that I haven't tested the ones you listed.)

 

For only $50 I would jump at them and maybe even try both the E17 and this one...

my wallet hasn't really been hit much really :/  i got most of these as gifts, and for the things gifts couldn't cover, i just diverted money from my commputer hardware fund. i haven't realy cared much                   about upgrading hardware lately, audio, so diverting money wasn't anything big. and since this was a high end enthusiast fund...for computers, you can imagine i got a good size in there.

Hahah, yeah. i usually get deep into my hobbies. not summit fi deep but high end deep in the stuff i like. I can't wait to get the E17 and then look for some new cans :) maybe the HD700's will only be $400 :3

Hey guys - just thought I'd mention that I have the ZO2 and the E11 being shipped to me as we speak so I'll post up a quick comparison of them - but I'm 100% imaging the ZO2 will be quite a bit better.

Updates? I just ordered the ZO2 over the E11 so I can get every bit of bass off my Pro 900's.

I got an email saying that they shipped it on the 14th - so I'm expecting it soon. They were backordered until the 9th, and only seemed to start shipping things out at the end of that week.

 

I'm not too worried.. I'll let you guys know when they all arrive and are compared.
