Recommendation: Computer Speakers Under $100

I have decided to buy some speakers used mainly with my laptop, but occasionally with my DROID X2. They must stay under $100. I really don't have a clue what speakers are popular around that price range that offer good build quality as well as good sound quality. If you have any questions as to what I'm looking for don't hesitate to ask! All recommendations are welcome!!!!

cheap stereo/power amp used off craiglist and a pair of bookshelf speakers? these would ensure good SQ and build quality over any PC speakers hehe

I'm sure it would, but I'm looking for something I can just buy off Amazon, Best Buy, etc. all in one.

Are you people telling me that no one like Bose, Logitech, Sony, etc. make a pair of speakers that you guys think produce reasonable sound quality for the price and have good build quality for under $100!?!?!?

The $70ish Sony SS-B3000 would be a decent buy tongue_smile.gif

Do you need portable speakers to go with the laptop?

Do you want a 2.0 or 2.1 speaker setup?

simple 2.0 speakers start at $20

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 will sometimes go on sale for $100 at BestBuy.

No, the speakers will not be going with the laptop. They will be staying on my desk. What's the difference between 2.0 and 2.1?

In 2.1, the .1 represents the discrete subwoofer.

So I'm guessing 2.1 would be better. I really don't need super quality sound, but if it falls into my price range I'll happily pick them up.
