MB Quart QP 805 questions??

Hi,

First post, so bear with me... I've recently bought 2 pairs of MB Quart phones. I bought a 75x (100Ohms) from a fellow Head-fier and really like them, but also a set of MB Quart QP 805 Demo - The ones with the armoured cable off of Ebay for £20 - a great price I thought.

My question is around the 805's, I was sold these as 100Ohm but on re-soldering the cable after removing the armour, I noticed the driver is marked as 400 Ohm. All the research I've done so far and I can't  find whether MB Quart ever produced a 400Ohm version of this model - Does any one out there know??

In terms of sound, to my ears they're pretty nice but do ruthlessly expose the flaws in some of my mp3's!

Many thanks

BA

I was pretty sure mine are 300 ohm, but I do believe they are always higher than 100.

If you are soldering, you hopefully have a multimeter, and should be able to measure the impedance for sure. set it to measure ohms, then link one lead to the sleeve, and the other to the tip or ring.

With the armoured cable, is it for sure the 805, or is it branded as DBI Pro?  If so, they have different drivers (might be 40 ohms, actually)

Well... They look like OEM's actually, they had some other name on the side (MVS or something like that - I took the stickers off). The driver itself actually has

photo.JPG 400 OHM written on it, also has 0.1W... I was wondering if it might have been replaced as I couldn't find any trace of MBQuart making a 400 Ohm in the 805 shape.
