Best 100$ - 300$ headphones -help

Hello

I have been looking for some great headphones around this price range

I know it is not a lot but im pretty sure i can get some quality at least, and well, i can put a little more of money if it is worth it.

I want headphones that are portable, also all-around since i listen to a variety of music, such as:
A lot of instrumental/trailer soundtracks, piano as well, a lot of electronica, and Drum and Bass Liquid (melodic DnB), i used to listen to a LOT of metal, though i have kind of left that behind

I also appreciate a lot noise-canceling or isolation (which both things are the same, right? lol).

So im a total noob, please help me picking the right headphones :) so give me recomendations please (my only experience with headphones have been with some BOSE that my dad lend me, lol)

so far i have considered these ones:

http://www.amazon.com/Ultrasone-PRO-900-Professional-Headphones/dp/B001F00F0E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324475646&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Ultrasone-HFI-580-Surround-Professional-Headphones/dp/B00101UHS8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324475602&sr=8-1

to point out, im a noob, so idk how useful a DAC or headphones amp could be, I wouldnt get one atm

Heya,

Look into:

Fischer Audio FA-003 (or Lindy or HM5)

Shure SRH840

Beyer DT770

Ultrasone PRO 650

AudioTechnica A900X

Pair them with something like the iBasso Zero or Fiio E10, or get a decent sound card if using a desktop PC (like Xonar STX, Titanium HD, Xonar DG if budget, etc).

Very best,

Thanks a lot mate, cheers.

Im really diggin the ultrasone 900s, even if they are not "all around" the idea of hadphones with an amazing bass sounds pretty good.

Specially for instrumentals and electronica =P

besides, it is not like the rest of the sound will sound bad, not at all, ha

also, something that is driving me insane about these ones is what the price says, some wicked 49% discount in amazon, lol wtf

Btw, are amps really worth it? doesnt seem portable at all, just something else to take up space, and what difference do they make?

Also, i have a laptop , so not really upgradeable -_- (and i wanted some 7.1 soundcard for some sweet 7.1 gaming headset :(

For isolation and portability look into the Sennheiser HD25-1 II. I also hear Ultrasones isolate well.
