@chrishelenius I have a pair of KRK KNS6400 right now and have a pair of HM5 coming in sometime this week or early next week. I will let you know how they compare.

I don't know if I'm a 'bass head'; I do enjoy hearing it, but not by compromising other sounds. The important thing is to feel the bass, it's as important as any part of music.

I have the KRK KNS 6400 now, and I'm a bit disappointed by their bass reproduction. I do understand the reason, in professional mixing you need to be able to hear possible errors without the bass muting them.

But I certainly could switch for more fun-sounding cans. Some have recommended ATH-M50, but I'm dubious about them. HM-5 on the other hand looks very promising.

You absolutely feel the bass on these. In my opinion, these have great sounding bass as I do listen to a lot of rap and hip hop on them.

OK just recieved my HM5 and yes they ABSOLUTELY have more bass than the KNS6400. These are not broken in but I don't think the bass will disappear with break in or at least not enought that I would change my opinion on this. My KNS6400 have over 100 hours of break-in and these sound better to my ears out of the box.

When I got the 6400's I was strongly reminded of the AD700 but with a lot less grain.

The HM5 is more like the AD900 but with better bass and without the harsh treble and thin sounding mids. I am really really happy with the sound stage and imaging of the HM5 and again that is before the drivers have fully settled down.
