No idea what I want but...

1st post so please be gentle ;)

At present I have a sansa clip, Sennheiser CX400 II (for out and about), Sennheiser HD595 for in the house, I have purchased a Turtle beach DSS amp to play my music through my PS3.

My major question is would I benefit greatly from getting a more powerful amp?

I have an onkyo HTX-HD22 sound setup for my cinema which is great sound but has no 3.5mm out for headphones.

Wish I had of planned things rather than rushing in!

I think most cans benefit from amping.  You may consider getting an amp--they will definitely help movies.  Better spatial separation and energy.

Cheers Hodgy, I take it that Turtle Beach DSS 7.1 thing I bought is nothing compared to any of the amps mentioned in these forums? I ask as It cost more than the FIIO E7 which is talked about alot.

If I bought an Amp would It still connect to both the PS3 and an MP3 player?  I was also thinking about upgrading to a better MP3 player although I think SQ on the Sansa clip is quite good I have not had anything to compare against.

I have the Earforce DSS also.  I get poor results using the analog input.  However!  Use a source with optical out most important: BYPASS THE DOLBY PROCESSING!  That should only be used for the surround business, it craps all over your music.  I just started doing this and it works well with my pair of Shure srh840.

For the sake of comparison, I also use the 840 paired with my iPhone using a line out dock and Fiio e11 with hi-gain on for when I'm on the train to NJ for visiting family.  The Earforce DSS sounds much bigger and more comfortable at all volumes.  Granted, it is awkward comparing an amp powered by USB to one powered by a battery.

Nonetheless, since you have all the pieces already, give it a shot and use it as a frame of reference going forward.
