Good Headphone amp to use with Sennheisser PC360

Thread Starter

So I have the Creative Recon3D(to use on my xbox) and I'd like to use it with my PC360 but the problem is, the recon3d doesn't seem to have enough power to run this headset properly. The sound is quite low and my mates on xbox say my voice is super soft and quite muffled. However I do not have any issue running a low quality headset on the Recon3D, the mic and sound is loud and clear.

What would be a good amp to use on the PC360 to increase the game volume and also chat volume seperately? Like the stuff you see on Turtle Beach headphones where you can really crank up the chat volume to hear your mates clearly. The recon3d makes my low end headset sound amazing. it's a Gamecom Paltronics headset I won in a comp. I realise an Astro mixamp would work but that would defeat the purpose of the Recon3D. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also does anyone know if my Creative Titanium HD on my PC has enough juice to power the PC360 properly? Or am I missing out not having an amp on it?

If you have the Titanium HD and the PC360 already, it wouldn't hurt to just try it there with no discrete amp and find out if you like the sound or not.

As for the external Recon3D module, that's already proven to be insufficient. The popular budget dynamic/ortho amp around here is the roughly $130 FiiO E9; can't vouch for it myself (don't have it, don't intend to get it), but it seems to be more than typical flavor-of-the-month hype.

Oh, and about the external Recon3D...I always wanted to know how it fared in terms of EAX support. Could you look up the OpenAL flags on it at some point?
