DJ cans for <$300?

Hey guys,

I just started DJing d&b / dubstep / electro music and I need to get some new headphones. My DJ buddy recommended the Pioneer HDJ-2000's which I've read a lot about and at $230 on amazon am thinking of getting.

Are there any other cans that you guys can recommend for mostly DJ (and some computer/home audio use) at around the same price-point?

Thanks!

Tre

You are already on the right path, but you can consider hd 25 1,  it is a classic one. Since I am spinning drum I can say that senns do the job right, they are lighting fast so it enables good balance between fun signature and easy beatmatching. Do not think about ultrasone dj 1 pro, I had experience with its close sibling (pro 550) and IMO they are good for trance, techno and nothing else. It depends on your style also, if you are beatmatching from the shoulder senns and most on ear is out of the question, but if you dont mind about shoulder mixing too much, senns are perfect, light and stay on your head fixed. Isolation on senns is very good but I believe that pioneer did the homework too. Allen and Heath are rebranded denon headphones, just for the record.

Yeah. That's where I was a little worried. The buddy recommended the Pioneers to me does mainly deep house, so I was wondering if the pioneers weren't as good for the music I'll be mixing/making.

If I would rank senns it would be drumm >electro (any kind of tuc tuc)>dubstep

Reasons why I think that senns can be bested in dubstep is because fast bass roll off, it is not that is bad but I think it can do better, maybe denons since  I had fun time with my d2000 (this is not a dj can).

It would be good if other users chime in and say what is their favorite DJ can and with which genre

EDIT: You should ask your buddy to loan you those pioneers, or ask him if he had experience with drum.
