Computer Rig Speakers: How close is too close?

If using non-shielded speakers by your computer-based rig, how close can you place them to LCD displays, external hard disks or the computer itself before it becomes a problem?  I suspect that external HDs will be the biggest problem as the EMI is not visible the way it is when you get too close to a CRT.

I suppose it depends on the size of the magnets in the speaker, no?  But how can you be sure that you're not too close?  Is there a "safe" distance?

I currently run M-Audio AV40s but am thinking of upgrading to Adam A5Xs.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the response, cifani.  so you haven't noticed any color changes or distortions on your monitor?
