Worried about breaking wire

Hey, I just got some HD428's. They are awesome, but my only complaint is the wire connecting the headphones to the jack.

 

It's really long. Like 10feet I think? Also it's pretty thin. I've tripped over it a few times already and I'm worried that one day I'll be clumsy enough to actually break the wire. Is there a way to reinforce it? What about if I break it, can it be replaced?

I dont know about reinforcing it, but replacement is common for many headphones, and is almost considered an upgrade around here.

Are replacements hard? Is it simple unscrew-plug and play or are we talking about wiring and soldering stuff?
