I was thinking of buying the M-80 at RadioShack, try them out side by side with the HD25 at Guitar Center, then return them. The design of the M-80 is also a benefit. Which would be best? 580, HD25, M-80? Also note that I am ordering a pair of Sony XB500's for home use and my bassy needs.

the 580's are just as portable as the M50's. like i said. good to walk around in. no strenous stuff. so "okay for mobile use" the HD 25 does have better bass. this is only from reviews i have heard. the hd 25's are frequently brought up as a bassy headphones while the M80's are neutral.

you really can't say best. as i still have no idea your whole situation. give me more genree's?

but for EDM if you like some bass on your music and want portability the HD 25's are a nice choice. i would think the HFI 580's to be superior to the HD 25's in other sectors(other than portability) after that. if y ou like a neutral responce, the M-80's would do and would also be portable...this is a hard descicion.

feel free to read my hfi 580 review in my signature under this post to get a feel for it :)

in case you noticed i lived in New England and know the time there right now..yes..i am nocturnal

Making it simpler for me to decide

make pro900 100%

and now give me a percentage off the other models

Making it simpler to understand what in getting at is from what I read the pro750 would be 95% of the pro900 in sound and quality? Although I stand corrected

cheers for the help

what  i  really  want  to  know  is  the  percentage  for  the 580  :)  if  the  difference  is  like  say  20%  then  ill  definitely  get  the  580s  if  50%  and  above..  then  I'm  facing  a  real  dilemma.  Reason  being  these  will  be  my  permanent  cans

I have both the Pro 900 and HFI-580, and the Pro 900 is a significant upgrade from the 580s. Percentages, and value, mean different things to different people, but I don't recall anyone upgrading from the 580 to the 900 and being disappointed in the slightest.

With that said, I don't think either headphone is good as an all-arounder. They are good for hip-hop and electronic (the Pro 900 is even decent with classical), but any music that is mid-centric (ie. anything with vocals) won't sound right on the lower Ultrasones, imho.
