What 75-125$ Headphones with bass!

Hey all, this is my first post here :) I've been reading reviews/watching videos for days now, trying to find the right 75$-125$ dollar headphone to use with my computer. Im getting more and more confused tho.. So i hoped you could help me out :)

I'm gonna use them for gaming and music (mostly rock, dance/techno, rap, pop)

So far i've looked at these:

Sony MDR XB500 + MDR XB700
Sennheiser HD 439 + HD 449
Shure SRH240 + SRH 440

Most important:
Short cable (im gonna use front audio port on my pc - from my sound card, not onboard - so i prefer 4 - 5 feet / 1.2 - 1.5meters if possible.. Not too important but i don't want 10m cable.. Sony and Sennheiser are both perfect here - Shure is 3meter/10 feet..

Very comfortable - i want my ears to fit inside. Alot of people say the XB500/XB700 are the most comfortable headphones they tried..

Bass, most headphones don't have enough bass for me.. That's why i started to look at Sony XB's in the first place. I think the Sennheiser's gonna disappoint me, some people say they got no bass. And since i listen to dance/techo and rap thats bad. I don't want all details to drown in bass, but i DO want bass.. :)

What do you think? What other headphones in this pricerange would be worth looking at?

If you want deep bass, the XB700 (think atsmospheric, room filling bass, that low growl). If you want punch you in the face bass, that pounds you into bass submission, the XB500 will do. wink.gif

I personally prefer the deep bass of the XB700. And it sounds clearer to me as a whole.

The XB500 does both types of bass well, but the general sound is quite muffled. IMO, you'll need a lot of EQ to make it sound respectable.

Panasonic HTF600 are also worth looking into as they are great for the price ($35) and today I've also picked up M-Audio Q40 ($120) which I can now also personally recommend, the Q40 is like a slightly refined HTF600 with slightly more forward and greater resolution in highs and slightly better bass extension and bass texture. Are Q40 worth 3x the price? not sound quality wise but the HTF600 are also poor in build quality, Q40 are quite good except the pads are rather low quality shallow pleather pads (I added a rolled up piece of paper towel beneath the pads to make them deeper which also tamed the peak around 8kHz and added even more bass impact as the fitting got better).

Comfort is very acceptable on both, Q40 clamps harder though but for me they aren't uncomfortable though and I've used XB500 for a year+ so I'm spoilt with comfort. :) Both easily surrounds the ear.

If this is the case I would NOT suggest the XB500 unless you're willing to EQ them a bit. I'd suggest instead to try the Koss Pro DJ100 with the M50 pads. They have a decent amount of bass and are close to being bass heavy without sacrificing the mids.

The XB500 is a good choice, but they go over your ears, not around them.

Out of the headphones I have tried, the only closed headphone with a lot of bass and goes fully around my ears are the Denon D1100 headphones. You may need to wait for a sale in order for it to hit your price range, though.

For me the ears fits fully inside XB500 pads as the earpads' innercircle have shaped accordingly to my ears and it stays naturally with that shape when putting them away too.

I'd heavily recommend Q40 after now having used them for aprox 6 hrs. This is the first headphone I don't need to EQ at all for it to sound perfect as it is.

Only did this simple mod

Thanks guys, i can't get the Q40 or HTF600 here.

Im leaning towards the XB700's i think

I can maybe get Beyerdynamic VT770 Pro (32 OHMS) cheaper thru a friend, they are still twice as much as the Sony's tho, so i don't know if it's worth it ? Not going to use dac/amp etc so i guess 32 ohms are best choice? I don't think i can get the 80 ohms version cheaper.. So..
