Monster turbine Pro Gold lacking bass?

I just received my MTP Gold in the mail today after about 10 days of waiting anxiously for them, and I am kind of disappointed with the bass. It just seems small to my ears, everything else sounds great, but after reading tons of reviews on how these earphones are "bass-emphasized", and that they have "Deep Bass", and are even meant for "bassheads",I just don't hear strong bass at all..

I think it might be because im just used to the more synthesized and "boomy" bass of the s4's. the dreaded beats, and the Shure215s.

I have tried most of the tips that it comes with and some seem to fit me just perfectly with great isolation and an air tight seal, not to mention the GREAT comfort! But I just can't help to feel that the bass is a weak.

So is this because my ears don't dont appreciate the more natural sounds this give compared to the three headphones stated above, or is it because it requires "burn in"? Or maybe I just should try bigger tips? Gel or foamed or silicon? Any Imput would be greatly appreciated

Bass will be very weak if you do not get a proper seal.  Try different tips if you have to.  If all fails, then return them and try something else.

I have heard the SE215s and the MTPGs bass are undoubtedly even more vociferous.

Try the foam supertips that came along with the package. You really need the right seal for them to produce the bass.

definitely have plenty of bass... even more than most of my full sized cans (quantity wise)

i'd suggest the foam supertips as well, the hybrid ones with the silicon on the inside and foam on the outside, once I found ones that fit (the smaller grey ones) i never looked back

i've had them for about a year now, and they definitely deliver (although just picked up a jvc fx700)

hmm.. none seem to be giving me big bass, so.. I'll give it a week to burn in, if no change occurs then I might just send them back to amazon :i

It should be a problem with your seal. Try different tips, or push earphones to the end of your ear canal & hold with your finger to see is there any difference.

The MTP Gold has plenty of bass punch and these maybe defected or faked. I will recommend to try the Sennheiser IE8 or UE T10Pro and both offers deep punchy bass with wide soundstage and overall clear soundsignature.

make sure you have the right fit. at first i was like "where's the bass" when i got my MTPG. then i had an awakening when i got the fit right with the supertips.

also, sometimes I have to tap once or twice on the enclosure while there in the ear, it goes 'click' then the bass HITS, but its also possible you have a defective set...

I'm honestly pretty sure that most of the people who claim that the MTPG have "tons of bass" have not heard them. I have a pair of these myself and they do not have a lot of bass quantity, but the quality is there. What I have heard a few people say regarding the MTPG that I completely agree with is that if the song has a lot of bass than these IEM's will reflect that, if a song does not have a lot of bass than you will not hear a lot. I own both the S4's and the MTPG and the S4's have way more quantity when it comes to bass, but the MTPG are more balanced than a lot of people on this site claim. I do not consider them basshead IEMs at all.

That is exactly how I feel , Having used the S4s and The MTP the S4s definitely have A LOT of bass that would some how appear in songs that naturally would have very little bass, The MTP are MUCH clearer though and the bass seems to be honest to the song's true intention, I just couldn't help but feel that the bass head remarks about this headphone were a little exaggerated, Note: I am using an ipod classic while EQing to "bass boost" and after about 10 hours of burn in (not much i know) I'm beginning to get what these headphones are all about, like i said i'll give it a week. (Also I don't think this pair is fake since it was bought from an authorized dealer and everything seems to be right, as for it being defective, these would be some damn good defective headphones, everything but the bass seems to be perfect!)

THe S4's bass is bloated with a big mid bass hump, that's probably why you feel like they have a lot more bass. As you move into higher end IEMs, most of them will try to steer away from this mid bass hump as that's generally considered "bad". It, imho, muddies up the track too much. I've never heard the Golds, but the Tributes also has a lot of bass. Those can make a song rumble down low and the notes are extra weighty.

Was it "Ships and sold by Amazon"? Get a Sony S-series walkman and jack the clear bass up :)

S4's are slightly boated/boomy but they don't have a midbass hump? they start at about 500hz leveling of at a +10 to 15db boost at around 100hz all they way to 10hz or less just like the MTPG's.

Yes I bought it from amazon, from here to be exact http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Turbine-Audiophile-Speaker-ControlTalk/dp/B002NTPLXM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1324428355&sr=8-3, they are pretty cheap so that's why I decided to get them after reading all the reviews..

From one of the "Featured Merchants" or from some other seller at the bottom of the list with few ratings?
