This is a review of a pair of free IEM's I recieved from DUNU as part of a give away contest they recently held here on Head-fi. When I recieved my package the first thing I notices was...

Best closed headphones I had heard - very flat response, almost no midrange distortion, very easy to drive (good for portable), good soundstage (definately better than K240), good isolation, but...

Overall excellent buds, very good sound quality, especially for their price, the medium set of tips fits exactly in my ears and provides a near perfect seal. Bass is very detailed, but not...

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

Also, many K701/2 owners suggest 100 to 200 hours of burn-in for the sound to really open up.

just got my m stage and k701
so far with my sound card and amp, the k701 sounded like my ad700 except that it sounded more natural, faster,
smoother, less sparkly, more accurate positioning, better separation, smaller but more natural sound stage, slightly more bass. so far im liking it, but it feels somewhat lacking.
these are the results when i compared it to my ad700 with same sound card and amp.
will a better DAC be necessary or just wait for burn in?
Looks like the K-701 sounds like many other hps, except ...
ill compare again after burn in and see if all the fuss is true.
i change my mind. my budget now is around $300 or less for a new DAC that goes well with my M stage and k701.
my Xonar Dx is fine ATM but its always good to know whats for a future upgrade.
