Just got my first pair of Grados.

After having owned Sennheiser HD 555s, AKG K240S, Koss PortaPros, Beyerdynamic DT880s, and many various mid-fi IEMs I decided to give Grado a chance.

I never really considered them because of all the "no bass" comments and hearing that they're uncomfortable. Yet, I kept seeing positive reinforcement and encouragement through the community that made claims that they "just rock."

I was able to obtain a used pair of SR-60is from a fellow Head-Fier for a decent price and I have to say that these headphones just rock my face off!

For the first time I actually I feel like I'm hearing my music as it was intended to be heard. I listen to a lot of alternative and indie rock and metal that uses a lot of distortion and these cans just make my music sound so filthy and visceral (in a good way... lol).

Listening to The Eagles of Death Metal and The Deftones' catalogs have, thus far, been a real treat. The instrument separation is just fantastic and the bass sounds realistic and tight, not sure why people bag on the bass. I'm hearing all sorts of details that just get lost when I listen to my HD 555s.

The exciting part is that I'm on the lowest rung of Grado goodness and I'm already loving it. It's just going to get better from here.

As a disclaimer I feels it is necessary to mention that I can't really compare them to my DT 880s because none of my current amps can properly drive them being that they are the 600 Ohm version (I have a Bottlehead Crack on order).

Thanks.

It's the first time I've started a thread in the main headphone forum. Figured It'd probably be a mistake.

Oh well, I felt like gushing. :P

No, it's not a mistake to start your own thread. Lol... sorry for giving the wrong impression. I just want to point you to a more popular thread so that you have more people to discuss with.

Awesome...i also own the SR60's. (will upgrade sig later) as my entry headphone to grado, and i really like it. Try different pads, and have fun.

Yep, there's different pad models to try on. I just ordered some bowls.

I've heard the G-cush pads fit the SR60's. True?

very true, I wouldn't recommend them though. they tend to only work well on headphones designed to be used with them. They are also quite pricey to just try out.

1) I would highly suggest upgrading to magnum drivers over upgrading to another grado

2) I wouldn't suggest the G-pads with anything that doesn't come with them stock, try them if you'd like, I really didn't care for them much myself.

I've heard a lot of talk about these Magnum drivers. Where can they be purchased? I googled it and can't seem to find the site selling just the drivers.
