Not just Hooke's law, any (locally) parabolic potential well has an equation of motion of this form.
Yay simple harmonic oscillations/motion.

You know you're an audiophile when you almost said "simple harmonic distortion." XD

AAMML at its best! (^o^)
I'll get my new speakers this week!
Finally...I'm getting tired of wearing headphones all day.

Lol, nice! I still enjoy listening to music and watching anime on my speakers. They aren't detail monsters by any means, but they sound pretty darned good to my ears.

Can you math gurus help me with another problem? I think I have the bounds and everything correct, just not the area function to get the average. I get that the double integral of that function (converted to polar) is 6pi(b-a), but I'm not sure what the area would be. I tried using the area of a circle (pi*r^2), making r = b-a with no luck.

I hope this ain't to late.

You can find the average area of a function over a domain D by computing the integral of the function F(x,y) over the domain and dividing the result by the area of the domain.

The domain in this case is a circle of radius b with a hole of radius a in the center. This will give an area of the domain of pi^2(b^2-a^2).

I've got the problem worked out in this pic. (sorry for bad quality) Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Thanks! :)

Mice and I figured it out yesterday. It turns out the input wanted me to simplify the 6(b-a)/pi(b^2-a^2) to 6/pi(b+a).

Media dump!
Go!

Because all of you always wanted to pronounce the names of German citys and states kind of right:

Oh dear....Babymetal is promoting the new Metallica movie in Japan.
Who would have thought...

Because all of you (except for me) loved the idol/fanservice episode of Kyoukai no Kanata, you get a whole special dedicated to this stuff!
No idea what they are saying but it probably doesn't matter anyway.

Pronouncing it as prescribed in that picture is far worse than pronouncing it in the way that would seem most natural to most English speakers.

I can't even pronounce what is written there and I can speak German.

Horrible phonetics...

In other news: This might just be the best Gundam Model ever made.

I know a friend who will kill for a model with that impressive amount of detail.

If you're daring, take apart all the headphones you're allowed to, and briefly mention how easy/costly it'll be to change the earpads, drivers, or even replace the cable if they're non-removable. Headphone teardowns are very uncommon now that I think about it. Maybe that's too hardcore, but at least try to talk about replacing the earpads, that's something heaps of people may need to do eventually.
Those are some good ideas.

The tear down part is tough though. A lot of parts nowadays are non-workable. There's also the chance to permanently disturb and mess up the damping that will mess up the sound. That said only higher end stuff are damped on the interior. Practically.

Drivers are also pretty darn difficult to replace because maybe 99% of then are glued to the baffle at the rim and sides. Pads sound like a decent idea though, much like how we roll tips on IEMs.

Many headphones aren't tore down from waht it seems to be due to the lack of DIY interest and inability to really tear down too far without a grinder?
Earpads... Just do it slowly. If anything you know how to remove the Q701 pads right? Just twist it.

Well for some review unit that are keepers you can always treat them roughly to evaluate how things hold up. I was doing drop tests for instance with my C&Ms lol.

I want a PS3 RIGHT NOW! (given that this game ever gets released outside Japan...)
Are you sure that's going to be on PS3?
Ciel Nosurge was on the Vita (sad...) and this seems like the sequel.
If you like how this looks, check out Ar Tonelico on PS2 & PS3! The singer for OP is Shikata Akiko <3

Wow...Bitcoin is now above $700 at the time of this post.

And litecoin shrivels down to an even smaller price...it's like the relation between stocks and bonds (as far as to my limited knowledge).
